About
River North Mexican restaurant with a full canine menu, with proceeds going to PAWS Chicago. The first Going Out listing in River North.
Amenities
A Mexican restaurant on Kinzie Street, and the first Going Out listing in River North.
The dog menu is the reason it is here. Both Time Out and Choose Chicago describe a full canine menu — Choose Chicago lists steak, burgers, chicken and a dairy-free "woof-cream" — with a share of proceeds going to PAWS Chicago, the Lincoln Park no-kill shelter listed elsewhere in this directory. Barrio is one of two venues here that turn a dog menu into a donation; Lyra in the West Loop is the other, and is not yet listed.
Worth knowing before you order. Chicago's ordinance permits water but not food in a designated dog-friendly area. A venue selling a dog menu is either serving it somewhere other than that area or operating outside the rule. This directory does not know which, and does not guess — the two facts sit side by side here as they do on the other dog-menu listings. The Patios and Restaurants page explains the rule.
Barrio does not mention dogs or its patio on its own website; the address and hours below come from it, the dog menu from the two guides.
