Logan Square has more dog-friendly patios, bars and cafés in this directory than any other neighborhood — seven of them, against Lincoln Park's three. That makes it the best place in the city to see the one distinction that matters most when you read a venue listing: who is actually saying your dog is welcome.

Counts as of 18 October 2026. For the live list, browse the Logan Square tag.

Three venues say it themselves

Park and Field — 3509 W Fullerton. Its own site calls it "Dog Friendly" and publishes a priced dog menu — Pooch Patty $6, Bird Dog $7, Perfect Pup Cup $5. The venue describes a 6,000-square-foot patio with a beer garden, fire pits and bocce courts, billed as four-season. Closed Monday and Tuesday; Wednesday and Thursday it opens at 5pm, Friday at noon, weekends at 10:30am.

The Moonlighter — 3204 W Armitage. Its own site: "relax with us outdoors on our dog-friendly patio." A bar and burger spot open late seven days — from 5pm Monday to Thursday, 3pm Friday and 11am at weekends. The site mentions fireplaces but not whether any are on the patio, so do not count on a heated patio.

Sip of Hope — 3039 W Fullerton. Its own FAQ says the "patio is also open and pet-friendly, weather permitting." Open every day, 7am to 1pm. All of its proceeds support suicide prevention and mental-health education through Hope For The Day. Its second location, in Hyde Park, is inside a hospital building and has no patio.

Four are reported by others, not published

These may well welcome your dog. But the welcome comes from a guide or a publication, not from the business — so treat each as a likely yes, and ask at the door.

Bungalow by Middle Brow — 2840 W Armitage. A bakery, brewery and sourdough pizza restaurant. do312 reports a heated backyard open year-round, with water bowls and toys for dogs; Middle Brow's own site mentions a covered patio and says nothing about dogs. Closed Mondays.

Colectivo Coffee — 2261 N Milwaukee. Its own page describes a large patio and sidewalk seating and garage doors that open onto Milwaukee Avenue; the dog welcome comes from Chicago dog guides, not from Colectivo. Open 6:30am to 6pm every day, early enough for a pre-work walk.

Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits — 2051 N California. Its own site lists patio dining, weather permitting; the patio is behind the building rather than on the sidewalk. The dog welcome is from dog guides. Closed Monday and Tuesday.

Lula Cafe — 2537 N Kedzie Blvd. do312 names it among its Logan Square entries; Lula itself publishes nothing about dogs, or about a patio. Closed Tuesdays, and every day between 3pm and 4:30pm.

The dog menu and the rule it sits awkwardly with

Chicago's dog-friendly-patio ordinance, Municipal Code 4-8-031, says a dog on a restaurant's patio may be given water but not food. Park and Field publishes a dog menu anyway. Both facts are true, and this directory records both rather than picking one — ask when you order. Why the rules work this way, and why a bar can sometimes do what a restaurant cannot, is in Why a Chicago Bar Can Let Your Dog Inside and No Restaurant Can.

Into the cold months

Most of these are patios, and most patios close or thin out between roughly November and April. Two are aiming to keep going: Park and Field bills its patio as four-season, and do312 reports that Bungalow's backyard is heated and open year-round. Filter by Heated Patio for the current list, and call ahead for the rest.

Off-leash: one small run with no name

Logan Boulevard Dog Friendly Area — 2529 W Logan Blvd, near Rockwell. The Park District still lists it only as Park No. 556, so it may be signed differently on site, and it publishes nothing about the surface or fencing.

Like every Chicago Dog Friendly Area, it needs a Park District permit and tag for every dog, renewed each year — the Park District lists $10 per dog, Animal Care and Control $5, so confirm when you apply. The Dog Parks and Runs page explains what you need.

Another option is Kosciuszko Park — Koz Park — on Avers near Diversey, by the Avondale boundary. Everywhere else, including the boulevards, your dog stays on a leash.

Walkers, groomers, daycare and rehab

Urban Tailz — a walking and sitting company on N Linden Place that publishes its prices: a 30-minute walk is $29.50 on a daily plan or $35 occasionally, and an overnight is $215 a day. New overnight clients need a paid meet-and-greet and three walks first, and cancelling an overnight within 30 days costs $150. The company says it is Fear Free Certified. See Dog Walkers for what else to ask.

House of Paws Grooming — 2311 N Pulaski, on the Logan Square–Hermosa boundary. Grooming, daycare and boarding under one roof; walk-in grooming is available. Daycare runs weekdays 7am to 7pm and Saturdays 9am to 5pm, with Sunday for drop-off and pickup only. Prices are not published.

PetSmart on Elston — 2665 N Elston. Two listings at one address: the PetsHotel and Doggie Day Camp, one of only two PetSmart locations in Chicago offering either service, and the store, with vet care until 4pm, grooming and training. PetSmart files it under Lincoln Park; it is in Logan Square. Neither page says whether your dog may come into the store with you.

IPC Chicago — Integrative Pet Care — 2520 W Armitage. Canine rehab: hydrotherapy, acupuncture, therapeutic exercise, laser and shockwave. Rehab usually starts with a referral from your vet or surgeon. Closed weekends; prices not published. Specialty and Rehab has the credentials worth asking about.

Living here with a dog

Luxe Logan Square — 1950 N Campbell. The building's own homepage advertises an on-site dog spa. It publishes no pet terms — no fee, no pet rent, no breed rules — so ask for them in writing before you fall for the spa. Pet-Friendly Apartments explains what renting with a dog in Chicago usually costs.

What is missing here

There is no general-practice vet tagged Logan Square in this directory yet, and no trainer or rescue. For an after-hours emergency, one of Chicago's three 24-hour hospitals, MedVet Chicago, is nearby in Avondale — see 24-hour emergency vets, and call on the way.

Those are gaps in the research, not claims about the neighborhood.

The full, current list

This page picks out what is most useful. For every Logan Square listing in the directory, browse the Logan Square tag, which updates itself as listings are added; a hand-written list on a page like this goes out of date, and a tag does not.
