About
River North Italian restaurant with a heated, glass-walled terrace and a reported puppy menu of beef or salmon with rice and vegetables.
Amenities
An Italian restaurant on Clark Street in River North, from the partners behind Piccolo Sogno, with a terrace built for Chicago weather: windows that open to the street in warm months and radiant heated floors for the cold ones.
The dog menu. Time Out Chicago reports a Puppy Menu of ground beef or diced salmon with rice, peas, carrots and corn, plus a housemade dog biscuit and a Pumpkin Puppuccino. NBC Chicago's coverage adds risotto-based dishes and a peanut butter and banana dessert. Nonnina's own website says nothing about dogs, so the menu here is reported rather than quoted — worth asking about when you book.
Where your dog can sit matters at this one. Chicago's dog-friendly-area ordinance covers outdoor seating with its own street entrance, and Nonnina's terrace is a glassed space that opens up rather than an open-air patio. Ask when you reserve. The rules are explained in full on the Patios and Restaurants page.
Food for dogs is the standing contradiction in this category. The ordinance permits water in a dog-friendly area but not food, and several Chicago restaurants advertise dog menus anyway. Both things are true; this directory states them and leaves the reader to draw the conclusion.
Closed Sundays.
