Chicago's dog beach
Chicago designates one dog beach: Montrose, on the North Side lakefront. It is the only beach on the Park District's official list of Dog Friendly Areas.
Dogs are allowed off-leash in the designated area only, not across the whole beach. Montrose Point bird sanctuary, immediately to the north, does not allow dogs. As a Park District Dog Friendly Area, Montrose follows the same permit rules as the city's dog parks — get your dog's permit and tag before you go.
The Lakefront Trail's North stretch runs right past it.
