Bang Bang Pie and Biscuits

A coffee, pie and biscuit shop on California Avenue with a back patio — set behind the building rather than on the sidewalk, which makes it calmer than a street-side table if your dog is easily distracted.

The shop's own site lists "INDOOR SEATING, takeout, Delivery & PATIO DINING (weather permitting)."

Check the day before you go. It is closed Mondays and Tuesdays, open Wednesday to Friday 9am to 6pm and weekends 9am to 3pm. That is a shorter week than most cafés here.

One thing to know: the second Bang Bang on North Damen Avenue in Ravenswood has closed. The California Avenue location is the one still trading.
