Locally Owned Logan Square Water Bowls

About

Logan Square coffee bar across from the library, with a patio the shop itself describes as pet-friendly. All proceeds fund suicide prevention work.

Amenities

Indoor space

Across Fullerton from the Logan Square library, and the one café in this category that states its own dog policy rather than leaving it to be inferred: the FAQ says the "patio is also open and pet-friendly, weather permitting."

It is run by Hope For The Day and describes itself as "the world's first coffee where 100% of the proceeds support proactive suicide prevention and mental health education."

Open daily, 7am to 1pm — a morning stop rather than an afternoon one.

There is a second Sip of Hope inside the University of Chicago's Center for Care and Discovery at 5700 S Maryland Ave in Hyde Park. It sits in a hospital building and has no patio, so the dog-friendly part applies to Logan Square only.

Dogs on a café patio are covered by Chicago's dog-friendly-area ordinance — see the Patios and Restaurants page for what the rule actually requires.

Good to Know
The patio is the pet-friendly part, weather permitting — stated on the shop's own FAQ, read 2026-09-28. The Hyde Park location at 5700 S Maryland Ave is inside a hospital building and has no patio. Closing time is 1pm daily.
