About
Lakeview tavern with a large beer garden that is enclosed and heated in winter. Advertises itself as dog-friendly inside and out.
A side-street tavern in Lakeview, west of Ashland, with an outdoor bar that seats around 100 and 16 taps.
The dog situation. Cody's is unusually direct about it — its own site says "always dog friendly, inside and out," and the bar has hosted dog birthday parties. Worth knowing that Chicago's dog-friendly-area ordinance governs outdoor areas only; a dog indoors at a bar rests on the venue's own arrangement, not on the ordinance. See the Patios & Restaurants category page for what the rule actually covers.
Why it's on this list. The beer garden is enclosed and heated through the winter, which is rare — most Chicago patios take your dog off the table from roughly November to April. Also has TVs and outdoor dart boards.
do312's dog-friendly patio guide notes a "Best Buds" craft dog beer here; that isn't mentioned on the bar's own pages, so ask when you're there.
Hours as published: Mon–Fri noon–2am, Sat 10am–3am, Sun 10am–2am (captured 2026-09-25).
