About
A Logan Square restaurant on the boulevard, closed Tuesdays and shut between 3pm and 4:30pm every other day. Dogs on the patio are reported by do312, not by the restaurant.
Read the hours before you walk over
Lula Cafe sits on the boulevard at 2537 N Kedzie, in Logan Square, and its hours have two catches rather than one.
It is closed on Tuesdays. And on every other day it shuts between 3pm and 4:30pm — a midday gap in the middle of the afternoon, which is exactly when someone might think of walking a dog over for a late lunch. Published hours, read on 8 October 2026: Wednesday to Monday, 9am to 3pm and 4:30pm to 10pm.
The site is being kept up: it was still carrying a closure notice for Labor Day, 7 September 2026, when we read it, which is recent enough to treat the hours as current rather than as something nobody has touched in a year.
The dog claim, and where it comes from
Lula publishes nothing about dogs, and nothing about a patio either. The dog welcome here is reported rather than published: do312's dog-friendly patio guide names Lula Cafe among its Logan Square entries. That guide is a roundup of patios, so outdoor seating is implied by the source rather than stated by the restaurant.
This is the ordinary case in this category, and it is worth knowing which side of the line a listing sits on. Compare Gemini in Lincoln Park, which publishes the sentence that actually answers the question — "Gemini's patio is dog-friendly" — with Siena Tavern, whose elaborate dog menu is described in detail by two publications and mentioned nowhere on its own site. Lula is nearer the second.
What to ask when you book
Chicago's code starts from a ban: it is unlawful to bring an animal into any portion of a premises that holds a retail food establishment licence. A designated outdoor dog-friendly area, entered from the street and never through the dining room, is the one exception — water for the dog is allowed there, food is not. A restaurant is squarely inside that framework, so the useful question on the phone is where the dog may be seated, and whether that seating is still out for the season.
Both code sections are quoted in full in Why a Chicago Bar Can Let Your Dog Inside and No Restaurant Can, and the Patios and Restaurants page explains how to read a listing in this category.
If you lose a dog in Chicago, Chicago Animal Care and Control at 2741 S Western Avenue is the city's open-admission shelter and the first place to check.
