About
A rebuilt off-leash run in the southwest corner of Wicker Park — artificial turf, agility boulders, a sun shade structure and a drinking fountain for dogs and people. Reopened November 2025.
One of the city's best-known Dog Friendly Areas, in the southwest corner of Wicker Park where Wicker Park Avenue meets Evergreen.
The run was rebuilt and reopened on Saturday 15 November 2025. The Wicker Park Advisory Council, whose committee raised the money for it, describes the result as almost 6,000 square feet of off-leash space — a 25% increase on what was there before — with an artificial turf run and play area, "paw-friendly sealed and colored asphalt" elsewhere, agility boulders, seating areas, a large sun shade structure, and a drinking fountain for dogs and people. The Chicago Park District lists the site at 0.14 acres, which works out to roughly the same figure.
It is still a small run, so it fills up fast on weekend mornings and after work. Like every Chicago DFA, it is off-leash inside the gates only — dogs must be leashed before entering and on the way out.
