Kindred Veterinary

Kindred Veterinary

A general practice at 1106 W 18th St in Pilsen, on the main 18th Street commercial strip. One of the few full-service vets actually inside Pilsen rather than a drive away in the West Loop or Bridgeport.

Hours (from the practice's own site)

• Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Saturday: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Sunday: Closed

Services listed: same-day urgent care, puppy care, preventative exams and vaccines, general surgery, dental, acupuncture, and emergency services.

Worth knowing: the same-day urgent care slot is the useful part here — it means a sick dog on a Tuesday afternoon does not automatically mean a trip to a 24-hour ER and an ER bill. But the practice closes at 6 PM and is shut Sundays, so it does not replace a true emergency hospital for overnight problems.

Acupuncture is offered, which is unusual for a neighborhood general practice; it is typically used for arthritis and chronic pain in older dogs.

Getting there: 18th and Racine, a short walk from the Pink Line 18th stop. Street parking on 18th is metered and competitive in the evenings.
