PetSmart PetsHotel South Loop

PetsHotel is PetSmart's boarding operation, run inside the South Loop store at Canal and Roosevelt. It is the second of two PetsHotels in the city; the other is at the Elston Avenue store in Logan Square.

Accommodation. PetSmart publishes three room types: standard guest rooms, where dogs can share with a housemate from the same family, private suites, and Kitty Cottages for cats. A suite upgrade adds a raised orthopaedic bed.

Staffing. PetSmart says its Pet Hosts oversee guests and that an on-call veterinarian is available. It does not publish whether a staff member is physically on site through the night, which is the question worth asking when you book — overnight staffing varies a lot between Chicago boarding facilities, and some of the listings in this category state it plainly while others do not.

Day camp. The same facility runs Doggie Day Camp, so a dog can be boarded and put into group play during the day rather than spending the whole stay in a room.
