A boarding hotel on Rockwell Street in North Center, and the most transparent listing in this category about the things that are usually left unsaid.
Accommodation. Three tiers, all kennelled rather than cage-free: a standard kennel at 5 by 8 feet, a deluxe kennel at 6 by 8, and suites, which include an in-room webcam.
Overnight staffing, stated plainly. In the hotel's own words: "Yes, we have overnight staff that will swap out our daily staff. While there is only one attendant present at night, they are actively doing rounds." That is a more useful answer than most facilities give, because it tells you both that someone is there and how many.
Dogs who cannot join a group. Stay boards dogs solo, and names dog aggression and a lack of socialisation among the reasons a dog might be boarded that way. Owners of reactive dogs have very few options in Chicago, and a facility that says out loud it will take them is worth knowing about. Canine Perspective in East Garfield Park, listed under Doggy Daycare, is the other.
Requirements. A vet record showing distemper, parvovirus, rabies and bordetella. Before a first boarding stay, a dog must complete a meet and greet plus three daycare visits — so this is not a place you can book for a trip next weekend if you have never been.
Check-in. 5:30 PM on weekdays, 4:30 PM at weekends. The hotel does not publish general opening hours.
