About
The first dog-friendly cafe on the site south of the Loop. Opens at 7am every day in the Prairie District, with a Puppuccino on its own menu.
Amenities
A coffee shop and sandwich counter in the Prairie District stretch of the South Loop, and the first café on this site south of the Loop — until now the Cafés category ran from Logan Square to Edgewater and stopped.
A dog item on its own menu. The Spoke and Bird publishes a Puppuccino — "housemade whipped cream, half a doggy biscuit" — under its own Dog Friendly heading. do312's dog-friendly patio guide says the place "enthusiastically welcomes you and your pup." The company's dog pages do not break the welcome down by store, and there are two Chicago locations, so it is worth a call before a first visit.
It opens at 7am seven days a week, which makes it the earliest café in this directory and a genuine before-work option — The Lost Hours in Edgewater opens at 6:30am but is eleven miles north. Fridays and Saturdays it stays open to 7pm; the rest of the week it closes at 5pm.
The sibling store in Pilsen keeps very different hours and is closed two days a week. It is listed separately here.
One note on the company's website. It publishes fourteen pages under /location/, naming Bronzeville, Bridgeport, Chinatown, University Village, Little Italy and others. Only two of those are shops — this one and Pilsen. The rest are delivery and catering areas. If a search result suggests there is a Spoke and Bird in Bronzeville, there is not.
