Emergency & Urgent Care

Which Chicago emergency vets are actually open all night

This category holds only hospitals open outside normal business hours. Plenty of daytime practices advertise "emergency care" but refer out after closing — those are listed under Veterinarians, not here, so nobody drives to a dark building at 2am.

Open 24 hours, every day (per each hospital's own website):

• MedVet Chicago — North California Avenue, Avondale. Emergency plus specialty services.
• VEG Lincoln Park — North Avenue at Halsted. Walk-in, emergency only.
• VEG South Loop — South Clinton Street. Walk-in, emergency only.

Not every night: Premier Veterinary Group on West Belmont is open 24 hours on Monday, Saturday and Sunday, but closes in the small hours Tuesday through Friday. At 2am midweek, go to one of the three above.

Before you drive

Call on the way. It lets the team prepare for you, and it confirms they can take you. Each listing gives the date its hours were confirmed from the hospital itself — emergency hours can change, and a thirty-second call is always worth it.

Emergency hospitals are not a substitute for a regular vet. For ongoing care, see Chicago veterinarians by neighborhood.
