Best Friends Pet Hotel Chicago

The Chicago outpost of Best Friends Pet Hotel, a national boarding chain, on Elston Avenue just north of the North and Ashland junction.

Boarding. Climate-controlled suites for dogs, with separate cat boarding — worth knowing if you have both and would rather not split them between two places. The chain also sells enrichment add-ons and specialty services including pools.

Everything in one building. Boarding, daycare, grooming, training, a shuttle service and pet cams are all offered on site. That breadth is the chain's main practical advantage over the independents in this category, most of which do two or three of those things.

Ownership. This is a chain location, not an independent. That is neither a mark for nor against it here; it does mean policies, pricing and requirements are set nationally rather than by the people at the front desk.

Neighborhood. The address is in West Town, north of North Avenue and east of Ashland. Several third-party listings file it under Bucktown, which begins on the other side of North Avenue.

What is not on the location page. Vaccination requirements and prices sit behind separate pages on the chain's site rather than on the Chicago page, and overnight staffing is not stated.
