Arfit Dog Rehab and Fitness

Arfit Dog Rehab and Fitness

A dog rehabilitation and conditioning studio at 2112 N Clybourn Ave in Lincoln Park, in the Clybourn corridor.

Hours: not published. The site lists no hours of operation.

Intake is by questionnaire. Rather than booking over the phone, you fill in a form and they reply by email or text to schedule a first appointment. Worth knowing if you were expecting to call and get a slot.

Services: resistance training programs, manual therapy, dry needling, massage therapy and cold laser therapy. Cats are treated as well as dogs.

The "fitness" half is unusual. Most of the city's rehab options exist to get a dog back from surgery. Arfit also works with dogs who are not injured — conditioning for sport, working dogs, or a big young dog whose structure could use strengthening before something tears. If that is what you are after, it is a different and harder-to-find service than post-operative rehab.

Practitioner credentials are not published. The site says staff are "trained for multiple years" in the techniques offered but names no certifications or licences. That is worth a direct question here more than at most places, because dry needling is a needle going into muscle — reasonable things to ask are who performs it, what qualification they hold, and whether a veterinarian is involved in the treatment plan. The recognised credentials in this field are CCRP and CCRT for rehabilitation and IVAS for veterinary acupuncture.

Get a diagnosis first. Rehab and conditioning work best on a known problem. If your dog is limping and has not been examined, that is a vet visit before it is a rehab visit.

Pricing is not published.
